Working differently, making a difference.

When you join the DJ&A team, you’ll find a friendly, collaborative environment where people come first and your team has your back. You’ll grow professionally and personally doing work you can feel good about. And you’ll do it in some pretty special places. We think it’s a winning package – and our employees agree – 98% of our people told us in an anonymous survey that they’d recommend DJ&A to others as a great place to work.

Our Team & Values

Founded in Missoula, Montana in 1973, DJ&A was built on a vision: focus first on taking great care of people, and success will follow. Building on the values of our founders, we’ve put people first and have grown from a few former U.S Forest Service employees in western Montana to a robust professional services firm with a national reach and more than 120 employees and offices across the West.  At our very core, we’re a team collaborators and problem solvers who bring our individual skills and perspectives together to create better communities.

Our Services

After nearly 50 years in business, we’ve learned that one size doesn’t fit all—our wide range of services help us create comprehensive and tailored solutions for our clients.

Location, Location, Location

When it comes to job satisfaction, where you work makes a big difference. DJ&A’s offices are based in some of the most beautiful and community-minded cities in the U.S. With no shortage of opportunities for recreation and enjoyment in our backyards, we take work-life harmony seriously so our employees can enjoy the abundance around them.

Many of the positions we hire for can work from any of our current office locations (some positions offer remote work options, too!):

Projects That Make a Difference

We’re proud of the work we do to transform local communities. We also hold significant engineering, environmental, and surveying contracts with federal agencies, including the National Park Service, Federal Highway Administration, and the U.S. Forest Service. Our clients offer unparalleled opportunities to work on important projects in some of our country’s most beautiful, ecologically important, and culturally significant places.

Commitment to Community

We’re dedicated to being a force for good in the communities where our offices are located. We’re proud of the projects we deliver for local clients to create thriving neighborhoods, improve transportation networks, protect natural resources, and develop opportunities for recreation and enjoyment. Outside of the office, many of our team members are also actively involved in local charities, community organizations, and industry boards and networks. We help our team members to give back in ways that are important to them through annual paid volunteer hours, community events, and other employee-led initiatives.

A Place to Belong

Strong and resilient teams depend on an interplay of different ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds among their members. At every level of our company, DJ&A is dedicated to fostering a culture where everyone belongs, and all employees feel welcomes and included.

We’re also committed to a bright, inclusive future. In 2021, we launched a diversity scholarship specifically aimed at supporting the academic success of our country’s future engineers, surveyors, GIS professionals, landscape architects, and environmental scientists, especially women and minority-status students who continue to be underrepresented in our industry.
