DJ&A was founded in 1973 by two former U.S. Forest Service employees who saw a need for a company that uniquely understood Forest Service projects and could provide specialized engineering services in Missoula, Montana and beyond.

From the beginning, DJ&A’s founders set themselves apart from the competition by focusing on providing their clients with the best service – and latest technology – to get the job done. In those early days, that meant DJ&A was one of the first firms in the state to have a mainframe computer in their office, and shortly thereafter, the first firm in the region capable of performing logging road design electronically.

And while their commitment to embracing technology helped them better serve their clients; it was DJ&A’s emphasis on building strong relationships that really fostered their growth. In fact, one of their first major contracts was awarded in part because of relationships built after another surveying firm was snowed out of Missoula and couldn’t access their project site– DJ&A crews offered to brave the weather and get the job done. In return, the firms partnered together and were awarded DJ&A’s first IDIQ contract to complete surveying and road design across Montana.

DJ&A has continued to grow and expand over the last 50 years by embracing the values of our founders. Today, we have more than 100 employees across five states and continue to adapt to meet the needs of our expanding network of private, local, and federal clientele. Our team has built a reputation of excellence in the services we provide and the results we produce for our clients across the nation.
